NEW YORK – <\/strong>An SME Window was opened by the Consul General of the Dominican Republic in this city, Carlos Castillo, in order to provide information and guidance to owners of small and medium enterprises on ways to access financing available in the market to further develop their businesses or start new enterprises.<\/p>\n\n

Along with the launching of this window, a first workshop for bodeguero’s owners<\/strong>“How to grow a bodega” was offered in coordination with the organization of Dominican bodegueros<\/strong> United Bodegas of America<\/strong> (UBA), presided by Radham\u00e9s Rodr\u00edguez, in the main hall of the Consulate, located at 1501 Broadway Avenue, in Manhattan.<\/p>\n\n

Consul General Carlos Castillo said that “there are tools available to state, municipal and federal governments that contribute to achieve greater business development, if we have the necessary information to seek available funding and access other sources that serve our communities in the United States, mainly in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, under our consular jurisdiction”.<\/p>\n\n

He stated that both the opening of the SME Window and the information and orientation workshop for the bodega’s<\/strong> owners who attended the activity are part of the support programs developed by the Government presided over by Mr. Danilo Medina during the Year of Innovation and Competitiveness, which seeks to facilitate trade, simplify regulations, optimize and transform production processes, increase exports and deepen public-private partnerships.<\/p>\n\n

“The Government gives opportunities to small and medium-sized companies to forge a better future for Dominicans, not only for those who live in our country, but also for those of us who live abroad, whose diaspora is the second largest contributor of around US$7 billion annually to the Gross Domestic Product in remittances in the formal and informal market,” Castillo said.<\/p>\n\n

The workshop for business owners on “How to grow a bodega”<\/strong> included presentations by Marcelo Rodr\u00edguez, on Digital Marketing and how to use online tools to sell and promote your business; Jos\u00e9 Montes, who explained strategies to reduce taxes; and Andr\u00e9s Zambrano, on how to grow your business, financing and growth opportunities.<\/p>\n\n
