The president of the United Bodegueros Association of America (UBA), Radhamés Rodríguez, delivered this Tuesday more than half a thousand turkeys to low-income families in the Bronx to celebrate the traditional “Thanksgiving Day” (Thaknsgiving).

Rodríguez, who was accompanied by Carlos Herrera, secretary general; Luis Ducasse, executive director, and the directors Otilio Hernández, Juan Valerio and Ignacio Castillo, among others, said that the association joins the traditional rejoicing that the family in the United States celebrates every last Thursday of November and the best way to do it is by giving turkeys to those who have no resources.
He recalled the biblical sentence, “He who has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God dwell in him?” he asked.
He expressed that UBA intends next year to expand distribution among its customers because it is a way of giving back to the people what they deserve.
Rodriguez spoke during the turkey giveaway held at 12:00 p.m. at the organization’s headquarters, located at 783 E. 163rd Street in Bronx County.
Thanksgiving has its origins in the USA from the year 1623 and is undoubtedly one of the most important traditions of Americans. It is estimated that about 50 million turkeys will be consumed that day throughout the country.
The traditional thing to do on this day is to give thanks for all the good things you have and ask for blessings together for your loved ones. In this spirit of sharing, civic groups and charitable organizations offer a traditional meal to those most in need, particularly the homeless.
